Micro-Switch Beatdown

So it’s only taken 5 weeks, but I’ve finally gotten the raw water pump back online. The pump lives in a port side forward locker just behind the water tight crash bulkhead. It ties into the only below water level thru-hull on the port side of the boat, which in addition to feeding the raw water pump, also feeds the AC water pump for air conditioner.

Anyhow, from the raw water DC pump, the line tees, with a 3/8 inch run coming back to the galley and a 3/4 inch line heading forward to the anchor wash down area near one of the bow rollers.

At the sink, we use a couple of reducer fittings to tie into a standard household sink spray nozzle and voila, we have high pressure raw water at the sink for blasting bits of sticky veggie goo from our plates.

The problem with the pump was just a worn out micro pressure switch that was only making intermittent contact and thus the pump never engaged. I used the last of our spare switches to swap the old one out and now we’re back in business. To celebrate I hosed Amy down with salt water, she gave me the bird and is now not speaking to me. I don’t recommend this sort of celebration at home.

In other news the wind continues to howl. We haven't been off the boat in four days and my beer supplies are growing thin. If you get this message and can arrange some sort of aerial beer drop I will forever be in your debt.

Barring a golden beer parachute, I may be forced to don my Bozo Deluxe hunting outfit and make a swim for shore and then if I survive, hitchhike to the beer store. It’ll be interesting to see how many beers I can swim with before I become negatively buoyant and end up on the bottom.

If this is the last time we talk, you’ll know what went wrong. More to follow, end of line….

No idea what that part does, but I need someone like you to carry on my boat when my partner Lisa and I leave in May. Think your wife would sub-contract you out?

The question to ask Amy is "What is it worth to take him off your hands?"  Bear in mind, he does cook and sew, as well as hunt and do boat repairs in exotic places.  (Actually, hang on to him Amy, now that you have him trained somewhat!!)

Hey Tom, make sure she sends you a picture of the boat before you agree to the trade.
