Victory Banquet

So, I made it back to Amy and the weasels after a rough, but quick delivery back to the states. The owners showed up and took back possession of their yacht and then gave us a ride to Customs and then the car rental shop. Dave drove me down to Fort Lauderdale where we had lunch and then he dropped me off at a nearby hotel before heading back towards home on the west coast of Florida somewhere.

I spent the rest of the afternoon walking up and down the Miracle Mile visiting the largest West Marine on the planet as well as Sailor Man and a new Boater’s Warehouse. I didn’t but anything at those stores, but I did get a harmonic balancer puller at a nearby Napa as well as a new 1 inch hole saw from the hardware store next door. The puller is for pulling the flywheels off of outboards. The hole saw is, well, a hole saw.

After shopping, I stopped at the nearby Publix grocery store and proceeded to wander around the store for two hours staring at real live groceries. I managed to fill an entire trolley, which I promptly abandoned, but it still felt good to pick all those proper fresh things. I got a hand basket and actually purchased a prosciutto roll, a six pack of Wicky Apple Ale, two 22 oz Fosters cans, a package of six microwavable Super Pretzels and two frozen personal pan pizzas.

I returned to my hotel room and celebrated.

My sleep schedule was so out of whack I couldn’t sleep, so I did the next best thing. I called every single person I know via Skype and spent 5 hours catching up on their lives. As an aside, it’s probably a good thing I don’t have more then 12 friends.

I finally crashed around 3 am, but my trusty alarm woke me at 7 so I could shower and pack and then catch a 9 am shuttle bus to the airport. My flight was on time and I arrived back in Great Exuma at 2 pm along with the vet, who is visiting this weekend. Our friend Bette picked us both up and she delivered me to the AmyUnit on the beach right behind where we are anchored.

Tomorrow I have vet duty starting at 8 am, so it’s time to play nurse Chapel again. More to follow, end of line.

P.S. – Today’s picture is of the starboard engine on my jet home. Is this supposed to make me feel better?
