Rubbing is Racing

Now that the website is once again rescued from the evil, but very attractive clutches of Danica Patrick (GoDaddy), life has returned to normal and I can catch up our four loyal readers on what's been happening.

After the new year, we had a mini three day regatta here in G’Town which brought out 13 or 14 C class Bahamian sloops. It was pretty windy for these boats and at least one boat sank during each day of racing. My friend Ollie on Dejarlo was part of the race committee and he snapped some really great pictures of the action.

This picture is my favorite of the bunch, because it shows how close these boats get when the action heats up. For those of you not familiar with the snobby, yacht club sailboat racing back in the states, contact is never allowed and most races end with some sort of protest filed about something totally inane and asinine. Not so down here.

As the picture shows, “rubbin is racin” and there is no such thing as too close. Those two dudes out on the pry (wooden plank) have got to be a bit worried about getting knocked off by  the windward boats main.

Anyhow, outside of the racing, there were several shore side events that involved beer, bbq and music played entirely too loud. All in all, it was a great couple of days and it should keep us going until April and the 62nd annual Family Island Regatta.

More to follow, end of line …

so . . . .  .. . . . . . did you have anything to do with deflating Brady's footballs?

Never a big fan of the heel, which is why I like cats.

Long time lurker here.
