We just wrapped up a visit by my brother and sister in-law and their three boys, aged 7, 9, and 11. They were here a little less than a week, but we tried to fit as many activities and possible into the time they had.
Mostly, this involved swimming. Swimming on the banks, swimming in the ocean, swimming in a pool and sometimes swimming outside standing in the rain.
The shear amount of energy expended by the boys cannot be explained by science., so I’m guessing aliens are probably involved.
The only thing we did more than swim was eat. I never realized that boys that age have to eat every 2 hours or else they die. Weird huh?
While they were here, we also managed to get the whole family out to Rake and Scrape for some food and dancing down at the Peace and Plenty. We followed that up with a Sunday visit to the Chat and Chill for some volleyball and more swimming.
Oh yeah, we also went up to Rolleville on Saturday for their annual homecoming party which included a B class Bahamian sloop race, more food, more swimming and a live band followed by a pit stop at Big D’s Conch Bar on the way home for fresh conch salad and few brewskies.
I dropped the whole tribe off at the airport this morning at 6 am and as I write this entry they should be somewhere over the Atlantic on their way back to Maryland. It was great seeing them and getting to hang out with the boys, but now Amy and I are going to sleep for a week. See you after that.
More to follow, end of line….
P.S. – Today’s picture is of my nephews posing with a Bahamian police officer at the Rolleville regatta.
