Blurry Lobsters Are Extra Scarey

Hello and welcome to March. The regatta is finally in full swing and with it the harbour has swollen to accommodate
360 boats.
The last two weeks have been spent fixing odd boat projects, playing volleyball and spending time with friends.
I even managed to get a couple of days of wind surfing in to boot.
I also got in a couple of trips out to the reefs. One time in particular, I went out spear fishing with Brian (Tonga
Time) and Speedo Ed (Joybells) and we ended up with three lobsters. That in and of itself isn't much to write about,
but it's pretty funny when you figure Ed forgot his prescription swim mask and thus was reduced to shooting at blurry,
out of focus lobsters.
For some reason, I find blurry lobsters extra scarey. Needless to say Ed didn't shoot anything.
Amy and I finally broke down and cleaned the hulls of the boat. It took both of us 2 hours or so and the job
truly did suck harder than anything that has sucked before. I hate bottom scrubbing, I hate it so much.
In regatta news, this past Saturday we had sign up day for all of the regatta events. We chose to bring the
weasels to shore to help with our poker event, because nothing says Texas Holdem like a weasel.
They were by far the biggest draw of the sign-up party and they posed for 62 photo ops and signed 23 little
kids foreheads with their tiny ink stained ferret feet.
There is a pet show during regatta which I think the ferrets could have cleaned up at, but there are also lots of those
annoying, ankle biting, constantly yapping, rat style dogs that don't like the ferrets much. The ferrets could
hold their own against the dogs, but the dogs become so disruptive that verbal communication is no longer possible.
I wanted to use this to my advantage and singlehandedly ruin the regatta pet event, but Amy wouldn't allow
it.
Anyway, last night was our mega poker extravaganza. We ended up with somewhere near 60 players and 7 full tables
with dealers. It was so big that I ended up not being able to play as there was too many administrative things
to attend to.
I didn't really mind not being able to play, because our weekly game has been paying off 100-150 dollars to win whereas
the regatta event winner took home a 50 dollar gift certificate and some lame ass burgee (flag). That was kind of a let down
from our weekly game and several people commented on it. I told them to address their complaints to our regatta chairman
who is in fact a lame ass clown.
The event was well received and everyone had a good time and thanked us for putting it on. We only had two
people who acted like asses and had to be asked to play nice or get the hell out. I'm glad to say one of those
was again our regatta chairman. Well done, Mister President!
By the way, thanks to everyone who helped out with the event. And thanks to St. Francis Resort for letting
us use their bar and restaurant to host our poker games. Now that the event is over, Amy and I have concluded that
we never want to be responsible for a regatta event again. Ever.
With our regatta duties over, we are now looking for weather to get out of dodge. We've provisioned the boat
and gotten everything ready for more sailing adventures. I think our current plan is to head south to the Jumentos
for a week and then sail over to Acklins or Long islands for another week. That should put us back here in Georgetown
in time for the Bahamian music festival.
Now if we could just get some wind we'll be on our way. More to follow, stay tuned.
