Return of the Internet Stalkers

December 29, 2007 - January 4, 2008

Editor's Note : So before we begin this week's log, let me first say that most of the pictures shown here are from Junkanoo night (morning). This is because I did not get them off the camera until yesterday and as such they could not accompany the log entry that actually dealt with the Junkanoo festival that was held last week. Sorry, but considering what you are paying me, you may just have to deal with it.

Amy wasn't feeling good this morning and so she stayed in bed while I played with the weasels in the cockpit until they tired out. Post running of the weasels, I went wind surfing again. I returned around noon, checked on Amy and then headed in for volleyball.

We had some decent games at first, but then a couple of people showed up who weren't invited and cannot play at the required level so the game fell apart. What is it with people that they think they can just invite themselves to a private function? I mean, if I scheduled a dinner party at my house, you wouldn't show up uninvited would you? Ok, so nobody but Susan would (just kidding, we miss you), but you get where I'm going.

You know, it's kinda like me and tennis. I like tennis, but I can't play , so consequently I don't walk on to the court at Wimbledon. Instead, I keep my ass in the stands where it belongs. Anyhow, I give it another three days tops before someone gets beaned on the court as sort of a "go home pale white yankee" message, but hey, such is life in the sandbox.

After ball, I hung out with Willis and Remy on the beach for a while and then returned home to make beef short ribs and baked potatoes for Amy. After dinner, she went back to bed and I sat in the cockpit watching the sun set and then the moon rise. For the record, she isn't feeling any better yet. To bed by 10.

So the last couple of days I haven't gotten around to doing log entries, mostly because I am in fact lame, but partly because Amy has been sick. In any case, here is a brief rundown of what's been going on since we last spoke.

New Year's Eve found us calling relatives back in the states from the boat to say hello. I got to talk to some people that I haven't seen or heard from in the last two years, so it was fun to catch up with everyone.

Around 10:30 pm, Amy woke from her pre-party nap and she felt well enough that we headed up to St. Francis to join another 150 cruisers dancing on the deck and welcoming in the new year. We didn't get home until 2 am and then pretty much slept until noon the next day.

New Years day was a quiet affair and we didn't get off the boat until 2pm to go and play volleyball. While in on the beach we ran in to Doug and Cheryl (the Internet Stalkers) whom we first met about three years ago via our website.

About two years ago, we met up with them in real life after we discovered that they were in the marina right across from the Buddy Fred's house where we had our boat. They left to come cruising back in October and have now caught up with us in Georgetown.

We hung out on the beach and got spent some time catching up with where each of us had been as well as introducing them to some of our friends down here. They played a little ball and Cheryl even joined the regulation basket weaving group. Way to go team.

Back on the boat, we made a lobster pizza and retired after a busy day by 9 pm.

That brings you up to today, which was pretty slow. After a brief trip out to the reef to procure another 3 bugs early this morning, the rest of the day was spent with me playing ball in between the rain drops while Amy ran to town and the airport to pick up our long awaited raw water pump so we can once again have salt water at the sink to pre-rinse our dirty dishes.

Back on the boat, I had the pump installed by 4 pm and we spent the remaining daylight getting ready for an impending front that should hit us around midnight. Hold on to your hats it's gonna get a little rough around here.

So anyway, Scooby doo fast forward to today; you are now caught up on the logs.

The wind picked up this morning as the first front of the year came crashing through. By 8 am the wind was up over 30 knots sustained with gusts going to 40. We were tucked well in to shore, so other than a lot of noise in the rigging, we were un-affected.

We spent the morning hiding below decks out of the wind doing odd clean up projects. Around noon I headed in to the beach to play ball. The games were good despite the blustery conditions and we played until 3 pm when a large rain squall moved through the area sending us all running for cover.

I was back on the boat and cleaned up by 4:30. Amy and I went up to St. Francis to run poker night shortly there after and in spite of the bad weather, we had a field of 24 show up. After 3 hours of play I tied for fourth and Amy came home in second. Ollie took home the top prize of 70 dollars.

Back on the boat we put away the weasels and turned in for the night.

The wind continued to howl all night, but it did settle back in to an easterly direction, so the harbour had calmed considerably. Amy was still feeling under the weather this morning, so she opted to sleep in while the weasels and I went to the beach.

After thirty minutes of chasing them across the sand, we returned to the boat and had breakfast. Later in the morning I braved the trip across the harbour to score some fresh veggies as well as some medicine for Amy and got totally drenched on the way back.

Around noon we Amy felt well enough to accompany me to the beach. I played ball while Amy sat under the palm trees with her book. Doug and Cheryl on Prudence came in to the beach today and in between games of volleyball we hung out with them. Before we returned home, we made plans to have dinner on their boat Sunday night.

Back on board the mother ship, we watched the sunset over a glass of wine and afterwards I made grouper fingers and a small salad for dinner. We sat in the salon and listened to the satellite radio for an hour before retiring for the day.
