A bright and early start for Team Dream Catcher. i had the crew rousted, fed and caffinated by 6:30 and by 7 it was light enough to up anchor and continue south.
The trip from Stuart to Lake Worth kind of sucks because there are 6 draw bridges that have to open to make the journey. going through a draw bridge isn't all that hard, but the bridges around here are all restricted as to when they can open. Some open on request, but most are limited to twice an hour, usually on the half anf full, but sometimes on the quarter to and quarter past.
As an aside, most guide books list the various bridges as well as their corresponding schedule. I really like that the ones that aren;t restricted are usually referred to as "on demand". Given the usual surley tempered nature of most bridge operators, I'd love to roll up to one and say "In the King's name I demand that you shall open!" and see what happens.
Anyway, it was a long drawn out affair, but eventually we reached Lake Worth and anchored amidst another 40 or 50 cruising boats. with the weather being as bad as it has bee, there are quite a number of vessels waiting to cross over.
Around 5 pm, frank and Debbie on Fat Chance joined us in the harbour. They left North Carolina well after us, but they caught up with us thanks to our extended stay in Vero. We launched our dinghy and motored over to visit as well as to pick up my laser equiped, thermal temperature sensing probe that Frank picked up for me last week. I will now be able to quickly identify the coldest beer in the fridge and thus maximize my total beer enjoyment quotient. Excellent.
We returned home around 8 pm and thanks to a 20 knot south-south east wind, spent a mostly sleepless night bouncing around at anchor. We'll definitely take off out of here early tomorrow.
